TASK FORCE
MISSION:
Develop an island wide strategy to prevent drug abuse through education and reduce drug abuse through treatment and legal consequences.
OBJECTIVES/GOALS:
Neighborhood Watch Coordinators will participate in an island wide prevention and reduction strategy, which will be implemented as an outcome of the Meth Summit.
An increase of 10% in drug house reduction will take place as a result of landlord notification.
50% of Neighborhood Watch Groups will be provided with educational materials about drug use, manufacture, and activity.
Each county district will have inpatient and outpatient drug treatment
and family support groups.
- 20% Reduction in "availability" of drugs on the Big Island in three years.
- Increase in the number of "effective" treatment programs/facilities Island wide.
- Implementation of an "effective" anti-drug program/teaching tool on Big Island
- public school campuses within 1 year.
IMPLEMENTATION/STRATEGIES:
Solutions 2002 members will serve on planning and implementation committees as soon as they are formed from Meth Summit results.
Letter will be developed and sent to landlords outlining specific information and requesting abatement of the tenants.
Bulk ordering of NHW educational materials will be done through a county agency.
EVALUATION:
Survey NHW coordinators one year from implementation.
